5. Click on Content slide in your wordpress dashboard and configure content slide plugin options.

You can directly install wordpress content slide plugin from your websites admin plugin section.

Add PHP code

To display WordPress content slide on your website you have to add following lines of code inside your themes .php files.

<?php if(function_exists('wp_content_slider')) { wp_content_slider(); } ?>

Example if you want to display this slider in your header then you have to edit the header.php file. Just open header.php from your current theme in any editor and add

<?php if(function_exists('wp_content_slider')) { wp_content_slider(); } ?>

lines at the location where you want to display the slider.

Slider Only On Home Page

In some cases you just want to display slider only on the home page in this case you have selected a page as home page from the settings->reading section.
And if your home page is using default page template then you have to add following lines of code in your page.php at the location where you want to display the slider.

<?php if(is_front_page()) { if(function_exists('wp_content_slider')) { wp_content_slider(); }  } ?>

Using above code the slider will be displayed only on home page.

Slider on a Specific page

If you want to display slider on a specific page say ‘about’ then you have to use wordpress conditional tags

<?php if(is_page('about')) { if(function_exists('wp_content_slider')) { wp_content_slider(); }  } ?>

    What a great plugin!
    I’m looking for some plugin like that.
    I’m used to use D13Slideshow but it was not like what I had expected.
    But… where is the download link?

    • snilesh says:

      @V.C
      Hi I am having contact with the wordpress.org to host that plugin on there site. I will sent you the link of the plugin when they approved my plugin.

  • V.C says:

    Thank you very much.
    I can’t wait till then.

  • snilesh says:

    @baron
    Thanks for using my plugin, You are the first person who downloaded and installed this plugin..

  • Rudai says:

    Looks great. Can the slide images be linked to another site ala advertising banners?

    Thanks!
    Rudai

    • snilesh says:

      @Rudai
      For now Images Can only link to the Post. I will keep this your suggestion in my mind to create banner sections to link other sites in my next version.

  • Carrie says:

    Excellent WordPress plugin with cool Effect

  • snilesh says:

    @Marcus
    Thanks for using my plugin. I am glad that your problem is fixed..

  • Brian says:

    Having some trouble figuring out exactly how to install this plugin. If you could provide some step by step, detailed instructions that are a bit clearer that would help. Thanks!

  • Brian says:

    http://www.wineinprovence.com/blog/

    This is the site where I have added the plugin. But nothing is showing up. I’m a bit confused about which code needs to go where. WordPress & PHP newbie here.

    Thanks

  • V.C says:

    I waited your plugin for a while.
    Look it great !!!

  • Allllan says:

    Greetings,

    the plugin is EXACTLY what I want…just can’t figure out how to make it work. Here is what I did:
    1. I installed the plugin.
    2. I set height/width in settings. (added a category name (called it “gallery”)…this is where it gets fuzzy for me)
    3. I created a post in the “gallery” category, and added a custom field with a custom field named “slideshow_img” and the value is the url to a picture I have on the site.

    Sooooo…now what? lol How do I get it to show up on a page? I am totally missing some steps here I think!

    Help? 🙂

  • Allllan says:

    Update…still not working…but closer?

    If I put your code () in the page.php file, it shows on every “page”. I suspect that is what I am missing, but I only want it to show up on 1 page. How do I do that???

    • snilesh says:

      @Allllan
      As you inserted that code in the page.php file it will be displayed on all the pages as it is default page template.
      if you want to display on a single page then you can code like this in your page.php

      You can enter the page name in the bracket where i entered ‘Your page name’ .
      For more details how to use is_page() you can read WordPress is_page()

      Or you can create a new page template for this page . but i think solution above is easier for you
      Let me know if you have any issue after this.

  • Cindy says:

    Okay, I think I am missing something. Where do the pictures that show up in the slide show come from? Or rather where do I put them? I am trying to add a slide shoe of random pictures to the top of one page (the home page) on a blog I am building.

    Please help..Thanks

    • snilesh says:

      @Cindy
      You have to create posts with the custom field ‘slideshow_img’ as key and full url of the image and you have to add this post in a category and you have to enter name of this category in the wp-admin content slide theme options page.

  • Neewby says:

    Simple and great plugin, i’ve install and it works perfect, but only one think is unclear!?

    Is there a possibilities to get a post title on slideshow on every picture(like http://www.rebelmusic.se/)?
    (using some other custom fiels or by modiciating plugin code)

  • Neewby says:

    @snilesh
    Tnx, all best for further development…

  • Marcos says:

    Is there any way I can make it work on my index.php? Only posts and pages have custom fields and I need it for my main home page.

  • snilesh says:

    @David Markland Ok I will add TimThumb support to the images. If you want to change the Speed of the images and fading you can change that from the image-slideshow-4.js file inside the content-slide/js/ folder change the value of “slideshow2_timeBetweenSlides” and “slideshow2_fadingSpeed” so you can change the speed..

  • snilesh says:

    @Andy Staple and @David Markland
    Yes there is a problem with the post linking. I am changing this plugin to use Jquery with more options. So you can change it with the new one.

  • David says:

    Thanks for this plugin that I’m using on my website!

  • Crgo says:

    Hello, I am interested in using the plugin. I am a little bit of a newbie on this. Can you give me a step by step on how to use it. I would like to add 3 pictures. Can it be used for pictures alone without any posts relationship?

    thanks,

    • snilesh says:

      @Crgo
      Sorry you can not add the images without using post. you have to add them using the custom field. I am currently working on to upgrade this plugin. with more options like using imges not from posts. and adding more effects…

  • snilesh says:

    Thanks all who used this plugin so far. and with your comments and suggestion I updated this plugin with more options. And using jquery and added option to link images to website’s other than the post’s so You can use this plugin as Advertising Banner.

  • snilesh says:

    @eddie

    What problem you are facing to add the slideshow. you can add it on the home.php file.

  • snilesh says:

    @liz
    You can not add that code in a text-widget you have to add it in the themes files. if you want to display that in sidebar then you have to add it in sidebar.php file
    just give me link where you want to add the slider.

  • akoustics says:

    Nice Design, Sorry with the current plugin you can show one slideshow anywhere in your site. And all the pages will have same slideshow when you add the code in your theme files.

    Hi Snilesh
    I think I am doing something wrong: only the last image is displayed. I inserted 5 posts in a category called slideshow, I set up the configuration options, i added the code in the theme index.php right after the header call.
    What could be wrong?
    Thanks!!!

  • snilesh says:

    @petrutm does you set number of posts to 1 in the content-slide option page.

  • petrutm says:

    no, it is set to 5

  • petrutm says:

    funny thing… on the download page (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/content-slide/) in the description is written version 1.1 but in the FYI box is 1.0. Also in my admin panel is 1.0
    I have wordpress 2.8.4…

    • snilesh says:

      @petrutm
      Yes it is 1.1 but I don’t know how to create versions in SVN repository that wordpress uses to store all the plugins. Version 1.0 was built without the jquery.

    Hi everyone!

    This is an information for all newbies like me. It is required to download the script jquery.js and put it to folder js in content-slide (maybe you have to rename it). That’s it! I think that a lot of people were facing the same “problem”.

    Many thanx to snilesh!

    @Sors
    Add the plugin display code in your sidebar.. it will show the slideshow in your sidebar.

    <?php
    include (ABSPATH . '/wp-content/plugins/content-slide/slideshow.php'); ?>
    ?>

  • snilesh says:

    @Ken
    If you want to exclude that category from the blog page then include following code

    <?php query_posts('cat=-5') ?>
    // cat=-5     5 is the category id.
    // Just include your category id instead of the 5

    just above the following lines in your index.php file

    <?php if (have_posts()) : ?>
    		<?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>

    So the final code looks like this

    <?php query_posts('cat=-5') ?>
    	<?php if (have_posts()) : ?>
    		<?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>

    If you get any problem just message me.

    Got one question.
    I know it’s installed (I can see the slideshow code ( ) on the proper page. It should be working but isn’t. I’ve got a directory of images that I’d like to use and I have not figured how to hook it to them. Is it through the custom fields Name and Value? Do I do one for each image?

    • snilesh says:

      @Roger
      You have to create post for each image in the slideshow and add them all in one category.
      There are two custom fields
      1]slideshow_img Full path of the image
      2]slideshow_url This custom field is needed if you want to link image other than the post.

  • DV says:

    Using this plugin for advertisers. Would like to be able to open the slideshow_url in a new window (_blank).

  • Thanks for great plugin.

  • snilesh says:

    @Zelda

    Are you familiar with CSS. If Yes then you can display post from specifc category using following code.

    <ul>
    <?php $recent = new WP_Query("cat=1&showposts=10"); while($recent->have_posts()) : $recent->the_post();?>
    <li><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark">
    <?php the_title(); ?>
    </a></li>
    <?php endwhile; ?>
    </ul>

    Just Replace cat=1 with your featured category id like. In above example my featured category id was 1. replace 1 with your featured category id and showposts=10 with number of posts you want to display.

    Hi Snilesh, this plugin is perfect for my site. However, I seem to be encountering the same problem that Petrutm had. I have written 3 posts with custom fields as you describe to link to 3 images, and assigned them to the same category, i.e. Slideshow. I’ve set the image sizes to be the same as the content slide, and set the category to Slideshow and show items 3. But the content slide only shows the last post (image) when I view my page. • Warren says:

    Hey there, loving the plugin – but having an issue if you could help. I have installed the plugin on my homepage, and beneath the slider in the content area the site is now only displaying the featured articles. The Slider’s settings are overriding the standard WordPress Reading settings in terms of number of posts being displayed also.

    Is there any way I can get the index page to act as it normally would, and just restrict the featured content to the slider only?

    Thanks

    Warren

    i have added it in widget but it does now shows the images n sides.

    Your plugin might be great but your documentation of how to use it is incomplete and confusing. How about some real instructions using screen grabs? I wanted to use it but don’t have hours to piddle around trying to figure it out. Please address the average user, not the tech geek, and clarify how to use this. thanks.

  • Thanks a million for your great plug in!

    Hopefully you can help me…it has been working perfectly for me up until now, I don’t know if it was in the recent upgrade or what has happened, but it keeps displaying the “no image” logo on the first slide, even though all the images are there…it is kind of hard to explain, but if you go to http://www.emmafarrellmakeup.com you will see what I mean. It seems to want to display an image that is not there…

    • snilesh says:

      check http://www.emmafarrellmakeup.com/behind-the-scenes-of-pin-up-photoshoot/ this post, does this post have image added using the custom field?

      • You are AMAAZING! I was hours trying to figure this problem out!

        There was no image added using the custom field, but there was a command to tweet about the post.

        I removed this and it seems to have fixed the problem. It is a bit weird. Do you know what caused this so that I can stop it happening again.

        Thanks again so much for your help, you are a star!

        • snilesh says:

          Yes problem was due to the image which you not added using the custom-field. I will work on this in future release. I am currently working on the next version of this plugin. Having features like
          1] Widget Support
          2] Slider addition in post/pages directly using wordpress shortcodes. So no need to add posts for individual image in the slider.
          3] Adding effects right now it supports only fading i am adding one more which is slide.
          4] After this new version release you can add as many sliders as you want at any location in your wordpress blog using template or in widgets or in your posts or pages using shortcodes.

          Thanks
          Neel

  • snilesh says:

    Hi Eduardo, Right now in this plugin version there are no options to change target attribute of the anchor tag. I am planing to upgrade this plugin in next 15 days with more options.

    If you want to add target=”_blank” then you can edit the slideshow.php in the content-slide plugin folder.
    Replace the line of anchor

    <a href="<?php echo $slide_link; ?>" title="Read More">

    with addition of the target attribute like this.

    <a href="<?php echo $slide_link; ?>" title="Read More" target="_blank">

    Change this line only.

    Hi there,

    Can this plugin be used in the header.php file so the header becomes a series of fading images, each of which is clickable to another page?

    cheers, Neal

  • jefferis says:

    I installed this plugin in a template with the php code. However, there seems to be no way to modify or add content to the banner. You cannot use custom fields when added this way. Am I missing something?

  • I added this plugin, which is nice, to my WP site using 3.0. Added the custom fields for the images and links. But the link only works when I right click and open in new window. No matter what browser I try using. Tested in IE 6,7,8, Safari, FF on mac and PC. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

      Hi thanks for using my plugin. I am upgrading this plugin to next version with more effects and you can add custom images. so you dont have to create posts. just wait for 10-15 hours …

      Also next version will need wordpress 2.9+ as from this version you dont have to use the custom field to add images. Next version will be using wordpress thumbnail support.

  • mohammad says:

    oh very very thanks for your answer
    Really the answer I was disappointed by you.
    I followed nearly 10 hours to seek a similar plugin. But …
    I am really happy that you are looking for the problem.
    Would you send a new plugin to my email there?
    Please complete description about how to use the plugin put in the site.

    I am waiting for new version
    Best wishes for you

    • snilesh says:

      Lol the current version of the plugin is working fine. I think you are not configuring right. If you want next version of the plugin then you have to wait. I will upload it to wordpress svn from there you can download it. If you want nice thing then you have to wait and appreciate all the work provided by plugin developers.

  • Myself says:

    Would like to use your plugin on a 3.0.1 version, but getting an “Call to undefined function trailingslashit() in content_slide.php on line 30. Am confused also if more than one sliders can be created, within the same site together with its specific location… Many thanks!

    Hi Snilesh,
    I’m not code savvy, but would like to use your slideshow plug-in. I uploaded, activated, configured my options, and pasted (and saved) your code to the html section of the page I’d like the slideshow to appear on. But to no avail. Nothing is showing. Where did I go wrong?
    Thanks for your help!

    • snilesh says:

      @ellamental
      You have to add

      <?php if(function_exists('wp_content_slider')) { wp_content_slider(); } ?>

      inside your themes .php file not in html section. Right now it is not possible to add slideshow using editor. I am working on the next release which includes shortcode to add slideshow in html section in editor area.

      • ellamental says:

        Thanks so much for your response! That worked, except now I need it to be centered on the page, and for my images to show instead of yours.

        I’m using images already on my site so for example, I changed Image 1 SRC to
        and replaced your Image 1 Link with my image link url. But I get a blank square where my image should show in the slideshow.

        Can you help me with centering and linking correctly to my images? Let me know if you need more info. I really appreciate you walking me through this. Thank you.

    Just wondering… in the main php file it looks like you can specify the number of custom images… i change this to what i want (8) and it still displays only five?

    Any suggestions?

    Cheerio

    • snilesh says:

      You dont have to edit PHP file to change the number of custom images. Just change it in options page and click on save button. When you save the custom images input boxes will be added equal to the value entered by you.

  • snilesh says:

    Do you want to display different slider with different images? on different posts/pages. or you want the same slider to be displayed on specific pages/posts.

    what is the custom field now in a post to set the image? can’t show anything since I run the plugin update

    • iguanna says:

      I used to set slideshow_img and a url to an image
      what’s the new custom field?

      • snilesh says:

        Hi if you upgraded from previous version then Version 1.3 is not using custom fields. Instead of that it is using the_post_thumbnail() feature which is added after wordpress version 2.9 . So you must have wordpress 2.9 and add images using “Featured Thumbnail” you can find this below the categories and tags in post admin area. If you have any problems send me message.

    Hi

    Thanks for a great plugin.
    I have a problem with the fade effect in IE. It looks fantastic in both Chrome and Firefox, but in IE the fade effect looks strange – as if a dark/black image is put between my 5 custom images. Any ideas on what is causing this?

    • snilesh says:

      show me link where you added this plugin so i can give you reply…

      • Lalala says:

        It turned out to be a problem with png files. When I changed the images to jpg it worked perfectly.

      • Lalala says:

        I found out that I need transparency in the images, so here I am again. The site is not live yet, so I am sorry I can’t send you the link.
        The fade transition is not smooth in IE8 when using transparent PNGs. I tried using tranparent GIFs but that is even worse. Is there a known bug with transparency?
        I create the images using Aviary Phoenix, but I don’t see how that should effect the result.

      display:block !important;
      }
      #wpcontent_slider
      {
      float:left !important;
      clear:both !important;
      display:block !important;
      }

      If you selected your home page as static from “Settings”=>”Reading” section in admin then it should have to work.

  • What should I do if I only want to display the title (an not the text) of the news? Excuse my bad english.

    • snilesh says:

      if you know programming then open content_slide.php in a editor this file is inside the “content-slide” folder.
      search for following line

      wpcs_content_slider_limitpost($wpcs_settings['char_length'], "" ); ?></span>

      and just add // in front of the wpcs_content

      like

      //wpcs_content_slider_limitpost($wpcs_settings['char_length'], "" ); ?></span>

      just for now. In next release you will get a option to hide text.

  • Jason says:

    Hey just wanted to say thanks for this great plugin. I’m in the process of customizing it and only complaint is the limitations on the content_slide.php css availability. it would be nice to be able to place custom thumbnails to replace the little white boxes. I’m banging away on it, if I come up with a patch to make it work I’ll post my findings.

    Great work, almost exactly what I’m looking for to highlight my work.

    • snilesh says:

      can you explain more what you didn’t liked about this plugin.

      • Jason says:

        Here is an example. This is my portfolio site and as you see, I made a background image that serves the thumbnails and then modified the css to show a transparent box over the active thumbnail. The images in the top are just placeholders. What would be nice would be to add thumbnails from the wordpress admin tool you provide with the plugin so they show up like mine. My version is not scalable because everytime I want to add a new image I have to replace the bg image in the navigation… too much work, should be dynamic.

        http://www.jasonknightsf.com/

        Still, like I said your plugin is one of the best I’ve seen and as close as I can get to what I’m looking for, hope this helps!

    Thanks again, I really appreciate the speed at which you are able to fix these problems. Excellent support and a great plugin too by the way! 🙂

  • snilesh says:

    do you have posts in that category with images? you must have at least two post in that category with images added using the “Featured Thumbnail”

    • luchosar says:

      NOW WORKS PREFECT. SUGGEST FOR NEXT VERSION THAT CHOOSE CATEGORY NOT APPEAR TO BE REPEATED IN THE INDEX, ANY IDEA TO SOLVE THIS? THANK YOU VERY NICE

  • Mike says:

    Is there any way to use an image map on any one of the images in the rotation?

  • Maria says:

    This plug in is pretty cool and thank you so much for creating this. I am not versed in php however is it possible for you to stick a target option into your next version? Right now if you click on the slate it’s keeping it in the same window so this is for the option should we wish to go to a new window. And also about the SEO friendly version, when might that be ready?

    Thank you very much

  • snilesh says:

    Yes there is issue with images stack vertically when you have more images in the slider. Right now i am working on solution for it by pre loading images. it will be available in next version.

    • Olly says:

      What I did to combat the problem was to put the code in a div and set the height to the same as the images (if they all the same height) and then add overflow:hidden;

  • John Mc says:

    Hi Guys,

    I am new to this plugin and want to know how I overlay text on the image?

    Can’t seem to find the answer anywhere.

    Anyone point me in the right direction please?

  • snilesh says:

    show me link where you installed this plugin?

  • Kai says:

    HI. I have a very basic question. I have installed the plugin in the HTML section of tha homepage that I want the slideshow to be on and am excited to see it work, but do not see where to upload the pictures I want as a slideshow.

    Forgive me. I have never done ANYTHING like this before and an fumbling around. I’m almost there but need a bit of help with this one part.

    Cheers, and thank you in advance.

    Kai

  • Auke says:

    This is exactly the plug-in I was looking for. There is however one thing that bugs me. I love the fade effect, but when activating this effect, the navigation buttons and arrows disapear! I’d really like to use the effect AND the navigation buttons.

    Is this done on purpose or is this a tiny bug?

    Thanks,

    Auke

  • Auke says:

    Second thing I noticed is that when publishing content from a category, for some reason the number of displayed items is limited by the age of the post. It does seem to go back approximatly 2 months; older posts are not displayed. Any clues on this?

    How is it able to add a heading and a text (description of the displayed page) into the slide?

    Great plugin! All useful plugins I use get a donation from me every year so thanks again!

    I have one question: In “Image source settings” under: “Use custom images?” I select: “No, using posts from a category.” With the correct category in question. The posts with the category all have a “featured image” attached to it, which shows in the slide.

    HOWEVER the image is tiled instead of showing the entire image only is there any fix to this?

    • snilesh says:

      Yes there is issue with images tiled if they are small in width as compared to the slideshow width. I am still working on the next release. I will try to sort out this bug in next version this plugin.

      • Silveira says:

        Great job Snilesh on your quick and prompt responses! I haven’t seen a plugin writer more dedicated to their work.

        Its refreshing to see someone who is out there to help people, Kudos!

  • Silveira says:

    Plugin works fine, but when I switch it to display images from category of posts, the slideshow works fine with an attached “Featured Item” but it tiles the image.

    Anyway that this can been changed to fit the slideshow content area?

    Thanks.

    • snilesh says:

      Yes there is issue with images tiled if they are small in width as compared to the slideshow width. I am still working on the next release. I will try to sort out this bug in next version this plugin. just wait for some days.

  • snilesh says:

    I check that in IE8 which IE version you are using.

    • wes says:

      I don’t know. My client has noticed the problem on her machine. I don’t use IE and just verified the probem on a computer I borrowed. I don’t have access to that computer now. Does it work on IE 8 then?

    • Wes says:

      I will check which IE version it occurs in. Any suggestions on how to correct this issue, if it occurs with earlier versions of IE?

  • snilesh says:

    If you upgraded from the Version 1.2 then Make sure your wordpress version is 2.9 or more.

    Current version don’t have custom fields. And one more options is added for the Image Source. i.e custom images. you can add as many images as you want without creating posts.

    Just goto content-slide options page and you will see all the options there to change settings of the slider.

  • snilesh says:

    I think you added superfish or any other jquery code because of which there is a conflict .. check javascript errors..

  • snilesh says:

    may be there are javascripts errors. that’s why the slider is not working.

  • eoa says:

    Hi,

    I have this plugin installed on two websites (on the same host) and they both have identical settings.

    Site A is working perfectly, with images fading into each other (3 images in total). Site B which also has 3 images, won’t fade images into each other. They fade out completely then fade in, at a much longer timescale.

    Can you think of what could be causing this? as they are setup identically.

    thanks

  • snilesh says:

    thanks for your suggestion. I will try to add this in the future releases.

  • Olly says:

    Is there a maximum time (or slowest) delay between images appearing during the fade effect? It appears whatever I change the delay time to it wont affect it.

  • Delll says:

    Hi, this is by far the best content gallery.

    I’d like to know. Is it possible to have multiple galleries, specificly one gallery on the homepage and another one on thr gallery page?

    excellent plugin, just a question.
    There is a way to use text on title instead of the png’s?

    I need to use special characters there and that way doesn’t work.

    Thank you!!

  • Jonathan says:

    Hi there,

    Really love the plugin but have a question about the display order. Is there any way to make the image/banner display random? That is, display each one in a random order?

    • snilesh says:

      Yes you can order images randomly. Just visit “content Slide” Option page in wp-admin dashboard. Under the “Image Source Setting” you will find “Order Images Randomly? ” just select Yes if you want images randomly.

  • Ed says:

    Hi
    Fantastic slider – is there any way to deactivate the slides linking back to the page the slider is on. I have images on the slides that people may click on because it looks like they are active because the hand comes up anywhere on the slide. I have removed any links in each slide but how do i de-activate the slide altogether from linking ANYWHERE. Am I missing something. Thanks again – this is THE best slider available. Cheers
    Ed

  • Julie says:

    Hey there, great plugin so far. Will there be any future plans for optimizing image rendering? Right now there is only an image size option to adjust the width/height of the slider, so all my images are stretched if they aren’t that exact size!

    Thanks.

  • I was assuming that the arrows for navigation were images. Are they? And if so where are they so I can change them? GREAT PLUGIN! the best ive seen

    • Ed says:

      Hi
      If you aren’t using any text (or you can just have text as part of the image you can create you own navigation arrows on each image – exactly where the real ones are – then set the title and navigation opacity to zero and the real arrows will disappear leaving the new ones visible – and the area will still be active as navigation.

  • Ahmed Elian says:

    thank u for this amazing plug-in

  • Ed says:

    Hi
    I was wondering is there anyone here who can answer my question about if I can deactivate the slides as being shown as links (even if I don’t link them they link to the same page they are on – I just want to make them not active)

    Doesn’t seem like anyone is answering this support post anymore and I emailed Snilesh directly but he didn’t reply so maybe he doesn’t answer questions anymore.

    Can anyone else help – it would be much appreciated

    Thanks

      update content slide plugin to 1.4 this problem is solved in this version.. there is link but if you click no page load occur.

      • Ed says:

        Hi Snilesh – I appreciate you trying o fix this but now when you click on the slide itself the whole slide show jumps to the top of the browser window – it’s half fixed the problem but still isn’t very pretty when it jumps up if clicked. I guess there’s just no way to remove the link altogether?

        Thanks anyway

          Hi again – was just thinking that I would imagine the majority of sliders are near the top of peoples home page under the header – what if you changed #wpcontent_slider_container to #top (or whatever the words are to make it just stay at the top of the page.)

          and can I do this in the php page myself?

    Perfect plugin for many uses. However, my title and excerpts do only appear very quickly during transitions and then they all appear at once. Any ideas? I thought that I may have some conflicting CSS rules but I pulled out all code and still have the same result. WP v3.0.3 and wp_slider v1.4.

    Snilesh tried a ‘fix’ but has removed it again.

    Can ANYONE help me out – how can I simply make the images not active links??

    I don’t know how to access the css and so on?

    Is there any way of having two different sliders with different dimensions and content in different templates?

  • Ed says:

    Hi Snilesh.

    You said you were going to release the new version again with the feature you removed (having the slides link to the slide container) Just wondering if you were still going to do this.

    Also a friend gave me a good tip on how to make it look like the slides aren’t active.

    Just add this code to the style sheet

    .cs-wpcontent_slider { cursor:default }

    It makes the cursor remain as a pointer instead of changing to the hand when you hover over the slider images so it is less obvious they are links.

  • Ryan says:

    Is it possible to use the content slider to rotate banners in the header and to place it with different images on a individual page?

    Thanks.

  • zota says:

    This is a great plugin. But I was seeing a flash of all the images as they loaded — I fixed it by adding a height to the content slider div:

    Hi

    We are trying to use your very good looking plug in on a regular “page” or the “start page” of our site. We are using the “Atahualpa Theme”. I can’t figure out where to insert the php code to make the plugin to display.

    Is it in the bodycode? What code do I use to publish the data on the specific page?

  • snilesh says:

    I think it is working on the website which you sent.

  • First, thanks for sharing this plugin!
    I just wanna put this slide in one page. But i never handled with conditional tags, so i dont know what i have to do! Can anyone help me with this ?
    Thanks a lot!

  • chad says:

    Hi. I’ve been able to customize the Content Slide quite a bit and I am very happy. However, I have one task that is giving me trouble.

    I’ve prevented the title of the post from showing up and instead allow my excerpt text to appear. However, inherently the excerpt text is not hyperlinked to the post page. The thumbnail image is totally fine and hyperlinked. Is there a way, in the PHP file for example, to insert code which will activate the excerpt text as a hyperlink that directs to the particular post page?

  • Ændrew says:

    Awesome plugin — seriously, I’m a fan of anybody who allows you to create sliders without having to create a new category for slider images.

    That said — is there some way to attach captions to images using the custom image functionality? Great plugin regardless.

    Can this plugin be the answer?

    Awesome plug-in! Super easy install and admin!

    I’m having a trouble with the Custom image and Custom heading scrolling at the same time. After a few cycles, they do not matchup well. The header will load 2 to 3 seconds before the image.

    Your example images load perfectly, however.

    I have resized the display and scaled my images to match, but that does not help. I’m guessing it has something to do with the loading time of my custom images. What might you suggest?

    Thanks for the plugin Snilesh!

    A couple of questions/requests:

    1) The ability to add html/links in the “Text” fields for each image. This would be very useful.

    2) Is there a way to make the headings/text disappear after a certain amount of time so just the image shows? This would be another feature request along with the ability to add how long the text shows for each image.

    Thanks again.

  • Jason says:

    Anyone have issues w/ the images stacking on page load? I’ve got it running in my sidebar via PHP code.

  • Joshua says:

    One more thing:

    I was debugging some other plugins and if you deactivate the plugin and then reactivate it, you lose all your settings.

    You should include an option to retain the settings as now I have to go and reconfigure EVERYTHING including the links and header text.

    Luckily I have a database backup but still, most plugins retain the settings even when deactivated.

    Thanks.

    This is definitely the best slideshow plugin in terms of ease of use and functionality- nice one! It would be great if you could deploy multiple slideshows on different webpages (maybe by inserting a shortcode on each page?)as this current version doesn’t seem to be able to do this.

  • Martin says:

    Great slideshow, but can you tell me how to center it on the page?

    Many thanks

    Martin

  • Martin says:

    Hi Nilesh, me again! Just to be clear, what i want to do is have the slideshow in my header and positioned centrally on the page and 117px from the top, How do I achieve this, i’ve tried a few things using firebug but I’m a bit of a novice and can’t find anything that works, if you can help that would be brilliant, and i’ll surely make a donation to buy you a coffee or two.

    Cheers

      send me your wp-admin login details through my website’s contact me page…

      • Martin says:

        Hey, thanks for getting back to me, but in the end I managed to figure out how to align the slideshow in the centre and down from the top by adding the following:

        margin-left: auto; margin-right:auto; position:relative; top:117px;

        at the end of the content_slide.php file where it says:

        #wpcontent_slider_container
        {
        overflow: hidden; position: relative; padding:0px;margin:0px; text-align:center; width:px !important;
        /* fix all content flash by setting height of container*/ height:px !important;
        }

        (I’ve written it out in full in case it can help any other noobies like me!)

        Thanks again

    why is it that my slider doesn’t seem to load the first image until after several seconds? I’ve looked throughout all of the code but see no reason for why this would happen. then there’s the same pause between the first and last slide. am using the jquery.innerfade function.

    any help would be great.
    http://www.cuttingroom.se is where you can find the slider in the header (#banner)

    Hi, congratulations for your excelent work! I really love it the plugin and his features. But I’ve a issue with the normal function of the plugin. I install everything and do set up all but the slide doesn’t works, just stay freezed (with the img loaded). What can I do? thank you 🙂

  • Wade says:

    I am using the custom images style with an image link, heading and text. Cannot get the text to link however.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    • snilesh says:

      what is your website link..

      • Wade says:

        Hi Snilesh. the site is in dev right now and is hidden to public so can’t show example unfortunately. What is happening is that the image is linked, but the title and description text is not, and I would like for it to be.

        Or Just place a link inside the description text, tried that, but any text after the brackets does not show.

        Thanks.

  • snilesh says:

    yes it works fine.. check again your options.

  • Keila says:

    Hello. Thanks for sharing this awesome plugin. I put this in a page of my blog, but i want this in a specific area of this page, more to the center. How can i set this ? Thanks for your attention.

  • Ed says:

    Hi
    I love this plugin

    Is there anyway to add get the alt tags for the images to show in the source code for SEO.

    Thanks

  • snilesh says:

    You created images attached to each other like this one

    http://www.sitioamimedida.com/wp-content/plugins/content-slide/images/image5_respaldo.jpg

    Just create single images with width of your slider i think it is 927×300 px.

  • snilesh says:

    don’t add anything in headings..

  • DeAndre says:

    Nevermind 🙂

  • JL says:

    Works perfect… with one exception… is there any way to have the slider use page images instead of post images? I’m not an expert with php but tried to make some minor changes with no results. Would be great if this would be possible. Does everything I need. Thanks for the plugin!

  • anna says:

    nilesh – this is a great plugin! (many thanks)
    1 problem, i have a picky client who only wants the fade effect (none of the others).
    Was wondering if there is ANY way to make the fade have the Navigation,Heading and overlay text viewable.
    I understand it’s not available via currently.. But is there some modification i could do to have this happen?
    (or are you doing it in the next version?)

    is there some reason why?

  • Melissa says:

    nilesh – terrific plugin. Saved me headaches!

    Question about customization: I’d like to change the margins on the cs-buttons slightly.
    Where would I locate that code? I didn’t see a css file with the plugin download.

    Also, what is an appropriate amount to donate for this? Time=money and you saved me a bunch.

  • bimple says:

    I want to use posts from a category instead of images. In the settings it says “If you select custom you dont have to create posts.” Well, I am using posts, so what do I do to get the content to appear in my slider? I selected “articles” category, however it is coming up as a blank area with no content in the slide, and the articles definitely have content

  • snilesh says:

    On “Content Slide” Options page in wp-admin under the “Image Source Settings” you will find “Open Images/Links In New Window? ” Just Select “Yes” to open links in new window….. And Save Settings..

  • Joshua says:

    Just had a strange issue come up.

    Was getting a 413 error from my server when trying to update the slider settings. I looked in the database and in the options it had added about 10,000 “/” characters into one of the option fields.

    I had everything backed up so I was able to re-enter the settings, however, now it is not saving certain CSS settings like heading color and button color.

    In addition, the buttons are no longer filled in, only outlines so you don’t know which slide the slider is on.

    I’ve tried deactivating/reactivating the plugin but this has no effect.

    Any ideas what is going on here?

    Another vote for an external CSS file, or an option for one on the next update. Great, extremely easy to use slider plugin — thanks.

  • Clive says:

    Hi Snilesh,

    Use this plugin a lot. Thank you.

    I get a problem often though that in when a new page is clicked, the content slide forces all of the images into a column, i.e. showing them all for about half a second.

    Every time I navigate to another page, again a half second flash of all images in a column.

    Is there a fix for this?

    All the best
    Clive

    Hi N,

    Thanks for the excellent plug-in.

    I am wondering if it could be modified to run as a background and make non-clickable?

    See this example:

    When using custom images for the slider,is there a way to make the image link open in a new window?

  • corey says:

    I’ve placed everything according to the documentation, however, it’s displaying all of the images vertically. Do you have an idea of what I could be doing wrong?

  • Angela says:

    Hey, fantastic plugin! Really love it, appreciate that your work immensely.

    Question: How do I create a different slideshow for a different page? I’ve got my php in specific static pages, and want different images for each gallery. Not sure how to do that..Sorry if I’m missing something extremely obvious!

  • Shane says:

    As a side note, I wanted it only on my home page, but in the header, so I took your homepage code, and plugged it into my header file and it shows up only on my header now. That is exactly what I wanted. Very simple, awesome instructions and great module! Thanks!

    Great plugin. Thanks…
    But (you knew there was a but coming right?) I’m having a problem changing the image display time when using ‘fade’… It always seems to take around 6-7 seconds between fades – no matter what changes I save in:
    Delay between images in ms
    (I have tried other browsers and refreshed eveything)
    Any ideas?
    thanks

    Awesome plug-in bro , its the best I could find for my wordpress site. But I have a suggestion I recently had stumbled upon this(www.omgubuntu.co.uk) cool web-magazine site, and I was really amazed by its slideshow style, its got a cool fade effect and the timing somehow is synchronized with the line that fills in after each slide. If you could implement this in your plugin it would be awesome.

  • Simon says:

    Hi there, is it possible to use the plugin twice on the same page, with different images? Say for example on 2 banner sections.

    Thanks in advance.

  • BEKA says:

    Perfect slideshow – Thank you!
    Wondering if i can change the appearance and size of the PREV and NEXT buttons? Could not find images or CSS.
    Thank you!

  • Carolyn says:

    Nice slideshow and easy to use. However, I am trying to adjust the timing of the slides. I’m using the plugin through php code…having it access posts in a specific category. I’m also using the “fade” effect. I’ve tried adjusting the ‘Delay between images’ setting but the slides rotate at the same speed…too fast!

    Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks so much!

  • Matt Slater says:

    Hi, is there a bit of code I can add to stop the images loading all at once? When someone comes to my site, they immediately see all 3 images loads at once, then collapse into the slider and the rotate properly?

    Thanks,
    Matt

    • Wade says:

      Matt. Just add some css to the container div for the slider.

      overflow: hidden;

      That will take care of seeing the other images load outside of the slider container.

    One problem: i select posts in slideshow from a category and i try to insert the link in content_slide.php file on line 267:
    <a href="” title=””>
    When i do this the slideshow appears broken. Can you help me?
    Thank you

  • evilrobot says:

    Hi
    I love the simpliciety of your slideshow but when I reduced the amount of images from 10 to 5 images the old ones ALL still show unless I’m logged in.
    I tried turning off the plugin and turning it back off again but no change. I have also cleared the cache and everything but deleteing the images (didn’t want blank boxes).
    Any ideas? Thanks

    Hi,

    I’ve put in your code for displaying only on home page however I’m now seeing both the content slider and the header image sitting underneath that’s supposed to come up on the rest of the website.

    How do I make the other header disappear off the home page only?

    Code here:

    Why does the fade effect eliminate eliminate image headings and text? Please. Thank you!

  • Mark Carter says:

    How do I adjust only the bottom border of the slide? It only gives option for all borders.

    • snilesh says:

      Option added for full box border. You can not change specific border using options.

      If you want apply Bottom border then add following lines of code inside your themes style.css file

      #wpcontent_slider
      {
        border-bottom:10px solid #000 !important;
      }

      Or you can apply different color borders for every border like

      #wpcontent_slider
      {
        border-top:10px solid #000 !important;
        border-right:10px solid #000 !important;
        border-bottom:10px solid #000 !important;
        border-left:10px solid #000 !important;
      }

      change #000 with your color code.

    Thanx so much for the plug in, it works great thus far. Thank goodness for folks like you that make it very simple for people like me to find easy to understand help. I am just trying to center the slide on my page but I am not sure how. Also, if I want to have different slide shows on my site do i use the same plug in to do that? I want to use different pictures for each show. I was thinking of putting a slide in my header. I am using the autofocus theme.
